Transatlantic Relations

Promoting the Vital Transatlantic Bond between Europe and the United States.

AJC has long taken an active role in promoting the vital transatlantic bond between Europe and the United States. One might even say that the transatlantic partnership is part and parcel of AJC’s DNA.

Even before the breakup of the Soviet Union, AJC was the first American Jewish organization to call for the recognition of the independence of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. In addition, as a staunch supporter also of the Western military alliance, AJC was an early advocate for NATO enlargement and testified in 1997 before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in support of the admission of Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

The AJC Transatlantic Institute is today a crucial vehicle for fostering dialogue between partners on both sides of the Atlantic on the critical issues of mutual concern.
