Opening of the Cartoon Exhibition "Iran and Human Rights"
After the European Parliament‘s Quaestor, British Liberal Catherine Bearder, banned the cartoon exhibition "Iran and Human Rights" as too “controversial,” the AJC Transatlantic Institute along with the four Members of Parliament co-hosting the exhibit—Lars Adaktusson (EPP), Péter Niedermüller (S&D), Anders Vistisen (ECR) and Petras Auštrevičius (ALDE)— relocated the installation to the Bibliothèque Solvay.
The exhibition featured artwork by members of the The Israeli Cartoon Project, who consider their work as an act of solidarity with the Iranian people.
The controversy over Parliament's censorship of the exhibition was widely covered by the international media, including the German BILD Zeitung (also in English) as well as the Italian Corriere della Sera and La Republicca. For a more complete overview of media coverage, see the document below.
