TAI Hosts U.S. Military Experts on Israel-Hamas War, Transatlantic Security
To counter false claims that the IDF is violating the laws of war in Gaza, TAI hosted General (ret.) Charles F. “Chuck” Wald former Deputy Commander of the United States European Command, and Lieutenant Colonel (ret.) Geoffrey Corn, who served as a senior military legal advisor on the law of armed conflict. Both had visited Israel and Gaza to assess the IDF’s conduct.
Corn and Wald briefed EU diplomats, including Hélène Le Gal of the European External Action Service, representatives from 15 EU Member States, Members of the European Parliament, NATO officials, and think tank members. They emphasized that accusations of genocide or deliberate killing of Palestinian children were false, explaining the IDF’s compliance with the law of armed conflict and the challenges posed by Gaza’s dense urban environment. The audience showed strong interest and sought detailed descriptions of military operations.
TAI also organized a briefing with Globsec, Central Europe’s largest think tank, and MEP Petras Auštrevičius, addressing transatlantic security challenges, the war in Ukraine, and the threat from China. The audience was particularly interested in the differing foreign policy approaches of the outgoing Biden and incoming Trump administrations.
