Symposium:

“Anti-Semitism in the European Union”

The AJC Transatlantic Institute and the European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung invite you to a symposium on anti-Semitism in the European Union.

The spike of anti-Jewish incidents over the course of this summer was unfortunately not an isolated phenomenon. Many Jewish communities in Europe have reported over the years a rise in verbal and physical violence against them. Most shocking were of course the 2012 murders of three Jewish school children in Toulouse and this June's murders in the Jewish Museum in Brussels. At the same time, we are witnessing in parts of Europe the resurgence of the extreme right. Openly racist and anti-Semitic parties, such as Jobbik in Hungary and Golden Dawn in Greece, have scored significant political victories.

The panel will discuss the different causes and sources of the increase in anti-Semitism and suggest possible policy answers. Ample time will be allocated for participants to engage in the discussion in the Q&A session.
